Dear Members, Friends and Visitors:

Greetings  and Welcome to the web site of the Commonwealth Chapter of The Links, Incorporated! The Links Incorporated, founded in 1946, is one of the oldest public service, non-partisan volunteer service organizations in the United States and strategic places around the globe. In has over 12, 000 members, comprised of 274 chapters in 42 states, The District of Columbia, The Commonwealth of the Bahamas and Frankfurt Germany.

The Commonwealth Chapter of The Links, Incorporated was chartered in June of 1998, in Richmond, Virginia. We are a diverse group of women with aspirations to provide service to the community, based on assessed needs. The projects and programs implemented have been noteworthy and reflect many successful efforts to meet the needs of those we serve.

Mission
About the Links, Incorporated

Founded in 1946 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, by Sarah Scott and Margaret Hawkins. The Links, Inc. is an organization of over 10,000 + women with over 275 chapters located in 40 states, Frankfurt, Germany and Nassau, The Bahamas. For over 50 years, the organization has gathered momentum, continuously redefines its purposes, sharpened its focus and expanded its program dimensions in order to make the name "Links" not only a chain of friendship, but also a chain of purposeful service. Finding talented members has been no problem for this organization.

Throughout its history, The Links, Inc. has attracted many distinguish and dedicated women who are individual achievers and have made a difference in their communities. they are role models, mentors, activists and volunteers who work toward the realization of the vision for African-Americans and for persons of African descent worldwide by engaging like-minded organizations and individuals for partnership.

The diverse and talented membership is able to readily problem solve, plan and direct programmatic efforts. Presently, The Links, Inc. is engaged in implementing expanded program services through the National Facets: The Arts, International Trends, National Trends and Services, with Health and Wellness, Education, Legislative and Linkages to Life ( sub- goals) and Services to Youth.

The Commonwealth Chapter was chartered on June 6, 1998, after being organized as Commonwealth Women Impacting Families (C-WIF). C-WIF was organized by Cynthia Mayo and Marjorie Smith and 20 other women. Gertrude Jones served as president and Saundra Rollins served as vice president.
